MP3 Rocket

Amazon is great, but there is still a way to get free music online. I’m sorry it may be illegal in some ways, but by listening to the artist‘s songs, they are still being promoted.  If you want free mp3 downloads, listen carefully.

Download this program.

I have recommended the following program to all my friends, who love it as much as I do. As with anything use discretion when downloading. I only recommend downloading music because I have had virus and malware issues with other music downloaders such as Lime Wire years ago with videos in particular. I cannot be held responsible for any problems you encounter with this program – I have yet to know anyone personally who has so I’m confident you will be just fine 🙂 1. Go to http://www.mp3rocket.me/ 2. On the far right center of the page is a big green “DOWNLOAD” button. Click that to get started. 3. Once the installer downloads click on that and you will be able to install the program on your computer. – pay attention during installation. You will be asked if you want to install Ask.com internet search bars. This stuff is irrelevant to the program and I suggest you opt out. It just slows your browser down. Garbage. 4. Once it installs you’re ready to start downloading music! 5. Type a song, artist, album, whatever in the search box in the middle of the page. 6. PREVIEW SONG (by clicking green play button) so you can verify the song is the one you want and it doens’t have any other defects     7. Click download next to the song and note where it says it will download to. You can chqange destination here. I download to My Music folder into a special MP3 Rocketfolder so I can later move music into the correct folder (I organize music by artist).

Dropbox Newbie – Is It All It’s Hyped Up To Be?

Image representing Dropbox as depicted in Crun...

Just Another Cloud Drive.

I signed up for it as a place to store my blog archives since I do not store them on any of my hard drives and after losing my first site, I knew I couldn’t afford to lose anymore content.

Why Dropbox?

I would have just used Google Docs or Box.com, my two regular cloud drive picks, but I found a site that would automatically copy each post I made on Blogger or WordPress directly onto Dropbox. Automation of these tasks is available through IFTTTcom. Definitely worth checking out.

Share Files

That was a few days ago. Today my buddy mentioned Dropbox as a means to access some of his files I wanted to check out. I gave him the email I signed up with, but apparently I need his and I go into his drive to get said files.

I had a thing or two to learn about Dropbox, but it seems pretty straightforward.

(The following contain modified excerpts from Dropbox.com)

What is Dropbox?

“Your life’s work, wherever you are.”

Dropbox is a free service that lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere. This means that any file you save to your Dropbox will automatically save to all your computers, phones and even the Dropbox website.

Dropbox also makes it super easy to share with others, whether you’re a student or professional, parent or grandparent. Have no fear! You can relax knowing that Dropbox always has you covered, and none of your stuff will ever be lost.

Be Anywhere

Dropbox works hard to make sure that all your files are the same no matter where you’re working from. This means that you can start working on a computer at school or the office, and finish from your home computer. Never email yourself a file again!

Download Dropbox for your phone to simplify your life even more — flip through all your photos or review that spreadsheet even while on the road. Dropbox lets you work from any computer or phone with the confidence that you’ll always have everything you need.

Simple Sharing

Dropbox makes sharing so easy that you’ll be amazed at the things you can do. Invite your friends, family and teammates to any folder in your Dropbox, and it’ll be as if you saved that folder straight to their computers. You can send people links to specific files in your Dropbox too.

Always Safe

Even if your computer has a meltdown, your stuff is always safe in Dropbox and can be restored in a snap. Dropbox is like a time machine that lets you undo mistakes and even undelete files you accidentally trash. Your Dropbox is always ready for action from the Dropbox website too!

Surprise Yourself

People around the world rely on Dropbox to help them with many tasks. Dropbox simplifies your life.

Lots of benefits but does it compare to other similar programs? In terms of free space, Dropbox offers 2 GB of space, with ways to earn more by completing various tasks. CNN.com reports:

Upload Limit

The most limiting factor of the majority of cloud storage and collaboration services isn’t the total amount of storage — it’s the limitations on upload size.

Google has an impressive 10GB limit on files or folders. This is significantly more than the 2GB limit imposed by most cloud services. Only Dropbox’s desktop apps for Mac, Windows and Linux do better. With Dropbox, the only limitation is the size of a storage plan.

Task Management Tool – Get Organized.. Digitally

Task Management for the Internet Era

5/4/2010: To-Do List

I have always been a writer. I literally have a collection of notebooks that include everything from stories to poetry and always lots of lists, especially to-do lists. I love to procrastinate and tend to be forgetful, so these little lists are alifesaver. In an effort to get myself “more digital” I have attempted to put many of my once written documents online.

I have used more than one “productivity” application, both on the computer and my Android phone, with no success. After using it once or twice, I forget it even existed. And here I am joining a new task management app, hoping this will be the one for me.

And the winner is..

Wunderlist – TASK MANAGEMENT tool

What is it exactly?

(from their official website)

Organize everything – Start boosting your daily productivity now

No matter what needs to be done, from shopping lists to projects and to-dos, Wunderlist can manage it all.

Use it everywhere – Manage your tasks while you‘re on the go

It’s available on your Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone devices, as well as your web-browser.

Share with others – invite your friends and colleagues to join.

Share your tasks and lists by email, or share them directly through Wunderlist with anyone who is already on board.

wunderkit is a social network for the task oriented

What I like about Wunderlist..

  • Very cool so far, can be used both online and off, downloadable for every device you have (no excuses!)
  • Great design and customizable background
  • Keep track of what you want, how you want – today, weekly, monthly, no due date
  • Their own social networkImage

TASK MANAGEMENT tool + social networking = awesome!

Okay, the social network sold me. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes.

Check out my profile on Wunderkit here.

I also found a method to reinforce my new behavior with a points system from this website.

If this doesn’t keep me on track, I’m going back to the old school pen and paper method.

Wish me luck 🙂

Tricks of The Trade

Tricks of the trade can benefit even the most avid internet pro. The’re always room for anyone to learn more. Who doesn’t want to make life easier? I know I do.

Would  you like to make more efficient use of you time?

21-06-10 Cause I´d Rather Pretend I´ll Still Be There At The End ~ Explored #1

Here’s how.

– A calendar or planner is key.

Everyone will forgot something somewhere, no matter how good your memory is. Did you know when you write something down it actually encodes it more effectively in the brain? This holds true even if you keep track of your daily to-do on the computer. It’s not the act of writing or typing per say, but by doing so you are putting what you are writing in your short term memory.

Mike Rohde´s Custom Moleskine Planner

It is easier to retrieve this information later on than if you just said to your spouse, “remind me to feed the dog later”.

– Going on the last trick discussed, writing stuff down in general will make your life easier.

Now don’t go putting everything on paper, but keep a notepad (actual or virtual) handy. A great virtual notebook to consider is Quick Note. It opens with a simple right click on the mouse and it saves everything you type automatically – no need to worry if you forget to.

And if you need to copy something from a website or email it have a super easy copy and paste feature. And if that hasn’t sold you yet, you can even sync it to your Google documents account.

– Google documents.

Google 貼牌冰箱(Google Refrigerator)

If you haven’t tried this one yet, you need to. It will not only save you time, but money as well because it does everything you would most likely need Microsoft Word to do. Not to mention many other websites you use sync with it, such as Box.com, saving you the effort of uploading everything.

– Create a weekly schedule of computer maintenance to keep things running smoothly.

I know most of us forget about the actual health of our computer systems, but they need check-ups too. If we get in the habit of doing check-ups on a schedule, doing so will become part of our daily routine.

For example, if every Monday you decide to scan your registry for errors, your brain is more likely to associate Monday mornings with scanning for registry errors, which makes the likehood that you will forget. Even if you think these types of scans run automatically or in real-time, they don’t with most free-ware programs.

– Free software is great.

Open Source Logos

There’s no point in paying for something when getting it for free does the same job if not better. It’s like the non-profit of the computer world. But be careful and download with caution. Not every free program out there is safe, but there is a pretty fool proof plan to find out if it is.

When downloading off the internet, keeps these tips in mind:

#1 Don’t assume that just because it comes from a trusted source or has the “trusted seal of approval”, that it is indeed safe to download.

Try right clicking on that “trusted program download button”. You can save it to your computer can’t you? And even if you can’t you can’t still easily get a screen shot and doctor it up to look like the real deal. Looks can be decieving.

And these trusted download sites can’t be held responsible for every program. The do a great job and personally I’ve never had a problem with my favorite site. But you can never be too careful.

#2 If possible download from the programs actual source.

That just means if you need to download Google Chrome, try and do so from Google.com. If it is not a repetuable company like Google, find a good well-known and used site such as Download.com or Filehippo.com.

#3 These sites offering free downloads make a lot of money from the ads on their sites.

They are pretty slick in their tactics, but they have to make money somehow. Make sure before you click “run” or “save as” before the actual download process that it is indeed the program you originally intended to download. I know it sounds silly, but it happens.

#4 But before downloading anything from a trusted site, get to know that program.

Google it, read reviews outside that site, ask your friends, whatever. If no one has heard of it or have bad things to say about it, then maybe you should give that particular program second thought. No matter how safe you think it is, shit happens. The more educated you are, the less stress you will encounter down the road.

#5 So you’ve found a great program and all the reviews are good.

Ask yourself how the program will benefit you. Seriously. Most people who complain about their computers running slow are looking in all the wrong places for the answers. They download a program to speed things up and it works for a while, but soon things are back to how they were before.

More programs = more RAM used and less RAM = slower processor speed.

And just because you “uninstalled it” through your control panel does not mean it’s gone. Well for the most part.

#6 Windows (I’m not sure if Mac or Linux is similar in this fashion..) is notorious about leaving shit behind.  One of your must have programs is a good uninstaller. It will not only uninstall a program, but also scan your computer for any left over traces of it. An easy to use and effective such program is Advanced Uninstaller Pro. It can do so much for your systems health and more.

Schedule some computer maintenance! NOW!

clean your computer

Keeping your computer maintained will ensure you will have a healthy hard drive which also means that your computer is running at a god performance level.

What maintenance does my computer need?

It varies from person to person depending on what you use your computer for. Let’s say you can use the internet and you surf around, check e-mail, chat, etc. you are going to want to take a few different actions. Websites leave tracks behind on your computer, many times without any notice. What to delete and how can be confusing, but don’t worry there are easy ways to keep on top of these issues.

CCleaner is an application that optimizes your computer and is one reviewed as one of the most effective  privacy and cleaning tools available. And it’s totally free to download.

ccleaner program

 What does CCleaner do?

It removes unused files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. The whole process is quite fast, and is a program you definitely need to add to system maintenance list. I am a heavy internet user and will run CCleaner daily before starting internet browser. You will notice your internet will now run faster depending on the age and condition of your computer.

What specifically does it clean?

How to use CCleaner

On the screen you are first brought to select ANALYZE. This will check for files or items you do not need. Once it has finished you can hit the other button RUN CLEANER. Let it work it’s magic and once it has finished you will see everything that has been removed.

This just scans Windows. If you look to the top left of your screen you can also run the cleaner for your applications.

Here is a video to show you in more detail how to install, run, and configure CCleaner if you are having issues with it:

How often you run the cleaner is up to you and how much you use your computer. Since I am on the internet a lot I typically run CCleaner before I use my computer everyday, or at least three or four times a week.

You should notice a pretty nice change in speed if you have never cleaned your computer this way. Check out the other tools the CCleaner program has to offer… I use the Registry tool about once a week, it is definitely worth checking out.

How to transfer pictures to computer from phone without a cord or your sd card

Transfer Pictures… wait where is that cord.. HELP!

We transfer pictures to the computer all the time. We all have a way that we do this, and there is no wrong or right way. But what happens when we can’t find our USB cord? Or we are away from home and cannot use an SD card to transfer them? That is the problem I ran into recently. Thanks to Google Play I was able to find an app to fix my dilemma within minutes!

Upload / Download

The Problem

I needed to post some pictures on Craigslist. I just got a new CPU Tower and the one I’m using didn’t have a SD card slot like I was used to. I had a USB SD Card adapter… somewhere and my USB cord worked, but my OS could not locate the driver needed for it to work.

Windows Live Sync "Wave 3" logo

The Solution

I went on Google Play to search for a driver and actually found something better! SyncMe – An app to wirelessly sync from my android phone to my computer and vice versa. I downloaded to see if it would work and it actually far exceeded my expectations. Not only were the instructions easy to understand, the whole process from download to transfer complete took all of five minutes!

My critera, as far as apps are concerned, is performance, speed, and ease of use. I have spent countless years installing (and uninstalling) applications and programs, on both my smart phones and computers over the years. I have a need to find apps that aid in optimization. What a great word.

The official online color is: #A4C639 . 한국어: 공...

Transferring photos to the computer from the phone is a regular every day action many of us do without question. But what happens when our technology fails… so to speak? We look toward another alternative and sometimes it works, sometimes it fails.

With such a variety of phone apps and different ways to go about transfering picture to your computer from your phone it should come across pretty clear that this progran, SyncMe, is among the best photo transfer/file syncing tool available, for Android phones at least.

I strongly recommend this program… Go download it, because you will need to transfer something, at some point, to the computer from your phone.. trust me.

Download NOW! Wait, hold on a minute. Your computer is begging you to listen.

Some “things” to consider prior to downloading new stuff on your computer:

We are all guilty of downloading programs or software just because. Then we forget about it and never even use it. It sits on our computer’s hard drive, taking up precious RAM and if we do this enough (download aimlessly) it ends up slowing our processing speed down.

How to uninstall a program not in the uninstall menu.

Why you should download a program to uninstall programs.

You may be asking yourself, doesn’t Windows already do that for me?

Technically speaking, it does uninstall programs. And if it does what it is supposed to do, then why should you care? If you look beyond the surface, there is more to a program than just the program. There’s bits and pieces of the program that are left behind. And sure it may not seem like a big deal, but it adds up.

Go to your program files on your hard drive, usually the C: drive. Look through what it contains. Surprised? I found my old copy of Snood when I was checking my own out, and I haven’t played that game since probably 2007. And I probably would have never found it had I not been looking for possible RAM theives on my outdated laptop. And although finding this out didn’t fix my issue, it did help. I had been told about the leftovers Windows left behind, but here was the proof. I had already been using a program other than Windows to uninstall, but I still had years worth of crap on my laptop that I didn’t even use! (or could even use seeing as the actual program file was gone).

If you’re not convinced by looking at your own program files, then I don’t know what to tell you. But if you want to prevent anymore unnecessary trash on your harddrive look into a program to specifically takes care of what Windows doesn’t want to. The best program of it’s kind is free to download and is easy enough that anyone could use it. Advanced Uninstaller Pro is the specific name, beware of iminitators. Download.com gives it a great review, but remember to do your own research. Never go heads first into uncharted territory.

Cyber girl’s REVIEW:
Advanced Uninstall Pro
OS: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7

The program as a whole is solid and updated quite frequently. It does far beyond what it’s name implies too, but it is best for uninstalling your old, unused programs. And those programs that don’t show up in the uninstall now list? It can  get rid of those too.

This is why I give props to the program.:

My antivirus software was not working properly and further investigation led me to discover that somehow I ended up with three different versions of AVG Antivirus. You would think that when you update a program, the old version would be automatically eliminated. In this case, it wasn’t, and the different versions all trying to run as “top dog” made it where none of them functioned at all. At the time, I didn’t know I had three versions so I did the most logical thing and uninstalled what I thought was the current version (the only one that showed up in the uninstall list) and reinstalled it. When that didn’t work I looked further and saw a second and then a third version. But deleting the folders would not remove the program from my hard drive, so what now? Advanced Uninstall Pro has a pretty handy “drag and drop” feature. I simply took the folder and it was able to locate the program files I needed to uninstall and did the job. Problem solved.

So please, give this one a try. See for yourself. It has a bunch of other features I didn’t go into detail about, you might use them, you might not. But the capability of it main function is enough reason for me and I think you should give it a try.

Why you should take my computer, internet, and program software advice.
